Job Fraud: Fake Cop Claims Innocence

BHUBANESWAR: Harekrushna Dash, arrested recently for posing as a police Inspector and duping job-seekers in the Capital City, has claimed innocence stating he did not own the recruitment business but was an employee in the firm owned by Vinod Bagh of Chilika.

Sources said Dash, who has been under police remand for the last two days, was not cooperating with the cops during interrogation.

He was arrested by Mancheswar police on Monday for allegedly cheating unemployed youths on pretext of arranging lucrative jobs in the Police department.

The police, however, are in no mood to buy Dash’s defence. “We have substantial evidence to prove Dash’s complicity in the scam and that he was a partner of Bagh,” Inspector-In-Charge of Mancheswar police station Bharat Sahoo said.

Bagh, who was running a similar business from Chilika, was arrested by Balugaon police in November last year and is currently out on bail.

Dash was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Satrughan Jena (54) of Jagatsinghpur. Jena was duped of `50,000 by Dash who had promised to arrange the job of a constable for the former’s son.
