BHUBANESWAR: National Aluminium Company (Nalco) on Wednesday commissioned a 160-KWp rooftop solar project at its Corporate office here. The project was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Steel and Mines Vishnu Deo Sai in presence of Nalco CMD Ansuman Das.
This is the first and largest rooftop solar project commissioned in the State. The project has been set up at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore as part of the company’s efforts towards harnessing alternative and renewable energy sources.
It may be mentioned that Nalco has also taken up installation of another rooftop solar unit of 100 KWp at its township in Nalco Nagar here. It has also drawn similar plans across its other units in the State.
Besides, the company is evaluating possibilities of setting up solar power generating units at other suitable locations in the country.
