Vig Raids on 'Crorepati' Engineer

BHUBANESWAR:The State Vigilance cracked down on a senior engineer of the Roads and Bridges (R&B) Department on Friday and unearthed huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Satyanarayan Sahu, Executive Engineer, R&B Khurda Division, was found possessing assets worth more than Rs  one crore.

The Vigilance sleuths searched his premises in Bhubaneswar, Khurda and Ganjam and found him possessing three vehicles valued at Rs 18.13 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs 7.5 lakh, deposits in banks, post offices and insurance firms estimated at Rs 10.5 lakh and cash of Rs 10.85 lakh.

In the Capital City, Sahu owns a building and a landed property in Niladri Vihar and an apartment at Sailashree Vihar. He also owns a holiday home at Puri, said sources.

This apart, the sleuths raided in-laws’ residence of Sahu at Belgaon, his paternal houses at Pudungi and Hinjlicut in Ganjam district and his office at Khurda.

While his fixed assets including two houses in the City were valued at Rs 53 lakh, net worth of movable and immovable properties detected during the raid were estimated at above Rs one crore. The Vigilance department is further inquiring into the matter.
