Fresh Notice Served on Two Suspended Servitors

PURI: The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Thursday issued fresh show cause notice to the suspended servitors Kashinath Dasmahapatra and his son Jaykrushna for speaking to the media about secret rituals of the Nabakelebara.

Kashinath and Jaykrushna, who were performing ‘seva’ in the temple, were suspended by the SJTA earlier for creating trouble during the Bramha Parivartan rituals. They have been asked to explain why they gave misleading statements on the most important rituals which were supposed to be kept secret.

Meanwhile, Chief Administrator of the temple SC Mohapatra on Thursday recorded the statements of three senior Daitapati servitors Krushnachandra Dasmahapatra, Biswanath Dasmahapatra and Nabakishore Dasmahapatra, regarding mismanagement in Brahma Parivartan rituals. Besides, the Deulakaran and Tadhaukaran have been issued notices to depose before the administration on Friday.

In another development, ahead of the annual Rath Yatra scheduled to be held on July 18, the third Rath Yatra Coordination Committee meeting presided by Law Minister Arun Sahu was held here on Thursday. Ministers of all departments attended the meeting. Senior officials of various line departments executing projects for the Nabakalebara festival assured the meeting that all infrastructure works will be completed by July 10.

As the meeting was underway, Congress activists staged a demonstration in front of the meeting venue demanding resignation of Law Minister Arun Sahu for the bungling during Brahma Parivartan rituals.
