Awards for Excellence in Science

BHUBANESWAR:   There is no dearth of talent and scope for researchers in science and technology in Odisha. It is essential to project the education and research based institutions of the State in the international forum so that the deserving candidates get their due recognition, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said here on Friday.

Addressing a ceremony organised by Odisha Vigyan Academy (OVA), Naveen said recent developments in science and technology should be effectively utilised to eliminate issues in agriculture, health, education, power generation and environment protection.

“To achieve this, we need to harness our skills and improve infrastructure extensively,” Patnaik added and advised OVA to develop a systemic approach for skill development and implement it to perfection.

Prof Gadadhar Mishra was conferred the Biju Patnaik award for Scientific Excellence on the occasion. Five senior scientists of the State, Krushna Chandra Satpathy, Amulya Kumar Panda, Basudev Kar, Sarat Chandra Panda and Nimai Charan Mohapatra were felicitated.

Ramesh Chandra Ray, Bidyadhar Subudhi and Prdyumna Kumar Mishra were conferred Samant Chandrasekhar award and Alok Prasad Das, Bikash Kumar Jena and Alok Tripathy were conferred the Young Scientists award.
