OPHWC Fraud: Vig Raid on Properties of Officials

BHUBANESWAR:  Continuing its crackdown in connection with the financial irregularities in Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), the State Vigilance on Friday raided the premises of a joint manager and detected assets close to Rs 1 crore accumulated by him.

Simultaneous searches were conducted at joint manager Achuyatananda Routray’s Mahanadi Vihar house in Cuttack, his parental place at Ramkrishnapur under Nischintakoili and father-in-law’s house at Dhenkanal Town.

During the search, Vigilance sleuths found that Routray owned the Mahanadi Vihar house which is valued at Rs 70 lakh and also has a lift estimated at Rs 5 lakh. Household articles in his possession were estimated at Rs 20.16 lakh while the official had bank deposits and insurance policies to the tune of Rs 2 lakh. Besides, other articles such as bike and cash were also found.

Similarly, the residence of deputy manager Prasanta Kumar Panigrahi at Upper Police Colony in Tulasipur and his paternal house at Balasore were also searched on the day. In his possession, the Vigilance found Rs 17,000 in cash, 13 gram of gold ornaments, household articles of Rs 5 lakh and two two-wheelers.
