Job Cards Issued to 1.75L Families

DHENKANAL: Job cards have been issued to 1.75 lakh families while 5.31 lakh people have registered their names under MGNREGS in 198 gram panchayats of the district by July 1.

Around 5.30 lakh people had registered their names for work under the scheme in 2014-15. This was revealed at the eighth Zilla Parishad (ZP) meeting held at DRDA conference hall recently.

Speaking at the meeting, Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik emphasised on creation of rural assets through MGNREGS and asked the officials for effective implementation of the scheme in the district.

Sources said the State Government has approved seven panchayat samiti roads in Kamakhyanagar sub-division to be handed over to Rural Development Department for repair and maintenance works. At  least 13 new PMGSY roads will be constructed in the current financial year.

Among others, Parjang MLA Nrushinga Sahoo, Hindol MLA Saroj Kumar Samal, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Binodini Samal, Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo and ZP members were present.
