Protest Yatra of BJP Proceeds from City

BHUBANESWAR: The Jagannath Sanskruti Suraksha Yatra, protesting the bungling in ‘Brahma Parivartan’ rituals of the deities of Sri Jagannath Temple, on Sunday reached Nayagarh.

Before the yatra proceeded from Jagannath temple at Jagamara in the city, BJP leaders, addressing a roadside meeting,  slammed the State Government for the mismanagement by Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in conducting the rituals.

The party, which has been demanding a judicial inquiry into the Nabakalebara fiasco, said the Government is taking cover under the inquiry made by Chief Administrator of SJTA.

Senior BJP leaders, including party’s State unit president K V Singhdeo, Bijay Mohapatra, BB Harichandan, Gridhar Gamang and Sameer Mohanty were part of the yatra, which reached Nayagarh via Khurda this evening.

The protest march will reach Balakati, on the outskirts of the city, at 10.45 am on July 6 where a public meeting has been planned. The yatra will terminate at Gadakhuntunia where ‘Daru’ of Lord Sudarshan was located.
