World Odia Convention Held in Washington

BHUBANESWAR:The World Odia Convention and 46th conference of Odisha Society of America’ (OSA) was held in Washington recently.

 Minister for Industries, School and Mass Education Debi Prasad Mishra, who was the chief guest of OSA meet, appealed to Odias living in the US to share their achievements and experience for development of Odisha.

 Assistant Secretary of the State Department Nisha Desai Biswal congratulated non-resident Odias for their contribution.

 The World Odia Conference was inaugurated by spiritual leader Chandrabhanu Satapathy while Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and noted scientist Bhakta Rath also spoke.

 The OSA felicitated MP Anubhav Mohanty, legislator Priyadarshi Mishra and sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik. OSA president Tapan Padhee, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra were also present.

 Noted Odissi dancers Aruna Mohanty, Sujata Mohapatra and Meera Das presented dance dramas. Guru Ramahari Das, Dhaneswar Swain and his troupe also performed. A youth and women’s convention was also held on the occasion.
