Trinity Taken to Adapa Mandap

PURI:The Daita servitors conducted the ceremonial ‘Pahandi’ procession of the Trinity and took the deities to Adapa Mandap of the Gundicha temple late on Monday night. While the Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra had arrived at the temple on Saturday evening, the chariots of Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath arrived on Sunday. As per the tradition, the deities stayed on the chariots for two nights and during their stay, servitors performed the daily rituals and offered them ‘bhog’. On Monday, after offering the ‘Sandhya Dhupa’, the Trinity were taken inside the Gundicha temple. There is a belief that anyone, who has ‘darshan’ of the deities on the Adapa Mandap, would escape the cycle of rebirth. On Tuesday, the deities would be offered ‘Mahaprasad’.
