Light, Sound Show Soon at Dhauli

The Tourism Department will soon begin the much-awaited light and sound show at Dhauli Shanti Stupa.

BHUBANESWAR:The Tourism Department will soon begin the much-awaited light and sound show at Dhauli Shanti Stupa.

Informing this to mediapersons on Wednesday, Tourism Minister Ashok Panda said all the modalities for the show has been finalised. The light and sound show will be of 30-minute duration which would be shown with laser technology.

The theme of Kalinga War and conversion of King Ashoka from ‘Chanda Ashoka’ to ‘Dharma Ashoka’ will be portrayed in three languages. Actors Bijay Mohanty, Kabir Bedi and Om Puri have done the voiceover for the shows in Odia, English and Hindi languages respectively. Prices for the show has been fixed at Rs 25 per person and Rs 10 per student or child.

The Dhauli Development Organisation, headed by Khurda Collector, will look into maintenance of the light and show component at the Stupa. Earlier last week, the department had done a trial run of the light and sound show at the heritage site. The project has been implemented by India Tourism Development Corporation at an expenditure of Rs 4.7 crore, which has been borne by both the Centre and State Government. Tourism Secretary Arvind Padhee was present.
