Cops Seek Two-day Remand of Raju Barik, Brother

BHUBANESWAR:  The Police Commissionerate on Wednesday moved the court of Khurda District and Sessions Judge seeking custodial remand of Rajendra Barik alias Raju, the prime accused in Patrapada shootout case and his brother Jaya Barik.

Raju was arrested from Khandapara in Nayagarh district on Monday night. He remained untraceable for five weeks after firing at a trader Dilip Nayak at Patrapada on June 18. Jaya Barik and 25 others involved in the incident were arrested earlier.

“We will quiz the duo on the reasons behind the murder, sequence of crime and whereabouts of their associates,” a senior police official said.
