Bid to Open Fake Bank Account, One Arrested

BHUBANESWAR: Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested a man hailing from 24 North Parganas in West Bengal (WB) for possessing forged identity cards using which he tried to open bank accounts in the Capital.

The accused Subish Sen alias Rajdeep was arrested from a hotel.

Police said Sen identified himself as Marketing Manager of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) and sought to open an account in the name of MCL with Punjab National Bank near the railway station.

Suspecting the veracity of the documents submitted by Sen, a senior official of the bank, Subash Chandra, lodged a complaint with the police. Following the complaint, police launched a search and arrested Sen from a hotel. They also seized three forged voter ID cards besides some documents and seals of MCL, Burla and ONGC Vadodara. A case was registered and Sen produced in a court which remanded him to judicial custody.
