PHULBANI: District Judge of Phulbani Hiranmaya Bisoy on Monday convicted a cook of Gumapadar Ashram School under K Nuagaon police limits for sexually assaulting the girl inmates and sentenced him to four years of rigorous imprisonment.
The Judge also imposed a fine of `5,500 on the convict Kamalakanta Mallick and ordered that if he fails to pay the amount, he will have to undergo another three months of RI.
In January last year, the girl inmates of the school run by SC and ST Development Department had approached the headmaster and alleged that Mallick was sexually assaulting them. An FIR was registered against him after the Welfare Extension Officer of K Nuagaon block inquired into the allegations and found those true.
