PURI:The 21-day water sports of the Trinity came to an end on Monday. On Sunday night, the ‘Bhaunri’ ritual of the deities was performed with display of fireworks and musical extravaganza. They were taken around the Narendra pond in the ceremonial boat ride 21 times.
During the festival, the representative deity of Lord Jagannath, Madana Mohana, along with consort deities Sridevi and Bhudevi, were carried twice a day to the sacred pond. The deities were applied sandal wood paste and bathed with aromatic water. The idols were decorated in different attires in morning and evening and taken in gorgeously decorated boats for a ride.
On Monday, the ‘Haldipani’ ritual of the Trinity was observed. From Tuesday, another phase of Chandan Yatra ‘Bhitar Chandan’ started.
