According to police, the miscreants reached Milu’s house on Thursday night and identified themselves as staff of  another liquor trader. They said they had been sent to collect cash by the vendor. After confirming their identity from the trader, Milu asked them to stay in his house for the night.

On Friday morning, after Milu paid them Rs  20,000, the two fired at him. Milu was hit in chest, hand, head and knee. The two fled leaving Milu in a pool of blood.

He was admitted to Aska Hospital where doctors removed two bullets. As his condition deteriorated, they referred him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur where the remaining bullets were removed. He is under observation, said the doctors.

Though cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, police suspect it to be a case of old rivalry in liquor trade. The two have been identified and would be nabbed soon, police said.
