BARGARH:Four persons died and eight others were critically injured after the MUV in which they were travelling, met with an accident at Balijuri, on Bargarh-Boriguma stretch of NH-26 during wee hours of Saturday.
The speeding vehicle rammed into a tree along the road, killing three among the 12 passengers on the spot. Another succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
The deceased are Saroj Buda(24), Mitu Meher(26), Jitu Pradhan(23) and Subal Meher(25), all residents of Chiplima under Burla police limits in Sambalpur. The youths were returning from Barpali after witnessing the Sital Sasthi festival when the accident took place. Saroj, Mitu and Jitu died on the spot. The impact of the collision was so strong that the roof and body of the MUV were ripped apart.
Those injured have been identified as Binod Sendria (22), Saroj Kumbhar (22), Rafiq Shah (18), Jayaram Guru (24), Manas Samantray (30), Jogendra Meher (22), Binod Behera (22) and Tikina Thela (20). They were also rushed to Bargarh Hospital, but had to be shifted to VIMSAR at Burla as their condition deteriorated.
