BHUBANESWAR: The body of a 45-year-old woman was found at Nirakarpur in Khurda district on Wednesday. The deceased belonged to Harijan Sahi in Nirakarpur and worked as a sweeper in the local market.
Khurda police and forensic team arrived at the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry. Though exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, sources said the woman was stoned to death.
Following the incident, locals staged a protest and blocked New Jagannath Road in the area demanding arrest of the culprit.
Body of the deceased was sent for autopsy to Khurda district headquarters hospital and further inquiry is on.
