100 urban piped water supply projects launched in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated 100 urban piped water supply projects with an aim to provide safe drinking water to every family in Odisha. The chief minister also laid the foundation stones for 100 more driking water projects at the secretariat here through video conferencing.

He also launched two new systems-Online Smart Water Information Management (OSWIM) and e-Building Pass for ensuring better management of supply of drinking water to the urban households and smoothen the permission process for construction of buildings respectively. Besides, a common application form rules was also finalised for getting permission to construct buildings.

"The state government is working with a commitment towards improving urban governance in the state. While 100 urban drinking water projects were dedicated today, the work for a hundred more projects also started," the chief minister told mediapersons. He said that the two services were launched to bring more accountability and efficiency in urban water management.

Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo said OSWIM would provide information on various aspects like the quality of water and collection of water tax. "The e-Building Pass system will simplify the building approval process. The time limit for getting various NOCs has been fixed. With this, people can easily get their building plan approval through online," he said. Members of the state cabinet, MLAs, chief secretary AP Padhi and senior officials attended the meeting.
