ROURKELA: A city-based criminal was detained by Rourkela police in connection with his suspected link with Dhala Samanta brothers in tender fixing.
The criminal, Beni Singh, is a sand mining mafia of the area and has business interest in illegal scarp trade. He has 19 cases under Rourkela and Sundargarh police districts with the latest being the attempt to murder and arms case at Kuanrmunda under Birmitrapur police limits in 2015. Singh is also being questioned in connection with a molestation complaint filed by the wife of one of his former employees.
Earlier, former councillor of Rourkela Municipality Asesh Mohanty was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on March 8 after his link with Dhala Samanta brothers came to light.
