DHENKANAL: Former BDO of Dhenkanal Sadar Susil Kujur and a businessman Premananda Rout were arrested by the vigilance sleuths on Wednesday on charges of misappropriation of funds under MGNREGA. Kujur is now posted as Titlagarh BDO.
Kujur, along with Rout, had misappropriated Rs 13 lakh while undertaking plantation works in 11 panchayats. There was no DRDA approval for the kind of plantation drive undertaken by the two, said DSP, Dhenkanal Vigilance, Himansu Sekhar Mishra. A probe was started basing on complaints lodged by former sitting sarpanch who had gathered evidence and provided inputs. More people are suspected to be a part of the irregularity.
