JEYPORE: Combing has been intensified in Maoist-infested Potangi block following intelligence inputs on presence of ultras in areas bordering Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
Intelligence agencies of both the States have alerted security forces on growing movement of Maoists of Koraput-Srikakulam dalam, who had recently attacked a contractor’s camp near Turia protesting road works in Kutia panchayat. Security has been beefed up in Potangi and nearby areas of Nandapur and Narayanpatana. As of now, road works between Turia and Deomali under Potangi block have been stopped after the Maoist attacks.
Sunabeda SDPO Ashok Patanaik, who is monitoring Maoist activities in Potangi, said forces have been deployed in the areas to curb Maoist violence. He added normalcy will be restored in Potangi within a few days.
