Complaint Against Use of Union Ministers's Picture

PARLAKHEMUNDI: A Jan Amantran (public invitation) vehicle of IOCL carrying pictures of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan sparked off controversy here on Thursday with the BJD registering a complaint with Collector.

District Youth BJD president Pradeep Kumar Nayak, in a  complaint to Collector Mansi Nimbhal, demanded action against local BJP leaders alleging that the publicity was in violation of the Supreme Court directive.

As per the apex court directive, pictures of only three constitutional authorities - Prime Minister, President and Chief Justice of India - can be used in Government-funded advertisements. But, personal approval of the three authorities is mandatory before publication.
