Fund Crunch Hits Nabakalebara Projects

PURI: The four departments, which were entrusted to execute the Nabakalebara infrastructure projects, have expressed their inability to complete the work as per deadline due to lack of fund.

During a meeting presided over by Chairman of Nabakalebara Infrastructure Development Monitoring Committee Maheswar Mohanty on Thursday, the contractor of Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway 316 expansion project said the work has been stopped as his banker refused to extend finance for the project and the NH officials issued a show cause notice in this regard.

The railway officials said work on permanent pilgrim shelters has been halted due to lack of funds. They are waiting for fund allocation in the upcoming Railway Budget, officials added.

Similarly, the officials of Public Works Department (PWD) expressed their inability to complete drainage and sewerage works due to lack of fund.

Senior district officials and Engineers of departments concerned were present.
