Modi Felicitates Achievers at NISER Inauguration

BHUBANESHWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today  felicitated three persons of the State, who have made the state

proud for their achievements, during the inauguration ceremony of the new campus of National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER).

Modi felicitated Lalita Prasida Sripada Srisai, a class IX student from Damanjodi in Koraput district for her innovative project at the prestigious Google Science Fair held in California in September last year.

The young girl, a student of DPS Damanjodi developed a low-cost bio-absorbent based water purifier which uses waste corn cobs as key ingredient. As winner of Community Impact Award in the 13-15 years age group, she receives $10,000 cash award and a year-long mentorship from Scientific American.

Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker Jamuna Mani Singh from Balasore was felicitated for her launching an awareness campaign against malaria. She was figured in the Prime ministers monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat in November last year.

Srikant Sahu, a youth from Nabarangpur who won national skill competition in May last year, was also felicitated by the Prime Minister during the ceremony.

Son of a tea seller, Srikant won the national level competition conducted by the Ministry of Labour under Directorate General of Employment and Training.
