Double Murder Accused Confesses Killing Two More

ANGUL: In a startling revelation, Jhasketan Rout (33), who was arrested on Thursday for killing two brothers, admitted to have killed and buried two other persons last year.

Rout was arrested for killing and burying the bodies of Jogeswar and Hiranyak Sahu on February 4 of Kusukila village.

Police on Friday said, Rout had revealed during interrogation that he had earlier killed two others in a similar manner and buried them in his village. The two were reported missing at Chhendipada police station.

On June 4, last year one Abala Garnaik (60) and her nephew Kumud Sahu (30) of Kukurpeta village were reported missing and a case was registered at Chhendipada police station in this regard.

SDPO Rabindra Nath Deo said, Rout revealed that he had murdered Abala and Kumud on June 4 last year and buried them somewhere in his village. Rout had taken `14 lakh loan from Abala and when she demanded her money back, Jhasketan killed her and her nephew who accompanied her to his home on the fateful day. The location where the bodies were buried is yet to be ascertained,” he added.

 Four day remand of Rout has been sought to extract detailed information, said Deo, who conducted the investigation under supervision of SP Rajesh Pandit.
