ANGUL: An undertrial prisoner (UTP) of Angul Jail, Sraban Pradhan (27), died in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on Monday. Pradhan of Madhupur village was in jail for the last two years on charges of rape and murder.
Jail Superintendent Janardhan Mallick said Pradhan was suffering from hypertension and diabetes. On Monday morning, he had complained of uneasiness and was shifted to DHH where he died.
His family members alleged that Pradhan died before he was taken to hospital and blamed the jail authorities for negligence.
