NUAPADA/DEOGARH:Nuapada police on Thursday arrested the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Tileibani in Deogarh district on charges of financial irregularities to the tune of `38 lakh under Madhubabu Pension Yojana. Sources said the BDO, Dharanidhar Nayak, had embezzled the fund during 2012-13 fiscal when he was posted as the Block Development Officer in Boden of Nuapada district. Earlier, the Social Education Organiser of the block, Umesh Bag, was arrested in this connection.
Earlier, Nayak was also detained by Barkote police for more than 20 hours when he was found carrying PDS rice in his vehicle to his house at Khamar in Angul district. A team of police, led by Boden IIC Jayashree Pradhan, arrested Nayak from his office in Deogarh district. He is being questioned in the case at Khariar police station in Nuapada district.
