BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK:Problems for the Dhal Samanta brothers seem to deepen with the police now investigating if they had a role in murder of Mohammad Farooq, a pulses trader of Cuttack’s Malgodown, two years back.
Though Cuttack Police has submitted chargesheet in the case, it is now inquiring if Sushant and Sushil conspired the murder. Earlier on Thursday, Farooq’s family members met DCP Sanjeev Arora.
The motive behind murder of Farooq was allegedly his refusal to pay extortion money. Though chargesheet has been submitted, police can submit a supplementary chargesheet if they find evidence to tie the gangster brothers to the murder case.
Meanwhile, police arrested Suvendu Das, another person accused in the murder of Dipu Mallick and Omm Swain. Sushant and Sushil have been charged with murder and destruction of evidence of the two former aides. Suvendu was one of the key men in kidnapping and killing of Dipu and Omm along with the brothers. He was allegedly present at the murder scene.
Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora told mediapersons that Suvendu was arrested after his location was tracked. Several cases have been booked against him in Bidanasi and Mangalabag police stations.
