BHUBANESWAR: The Congress today alleged that the farmers' rally at Bargarh has again brought to the fore the secret understanding between the BJP and BJD.

Even though more than 150 farmers committed suicide in Odisha for crop loss, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was silent on the BJD government in the State, AICC general secretary in-charge Odisha BK Hariprasad told mediapersons here today.

The BJP is trying to cover up all weaknesses of the BJD government in Odisha because the NDA government does not have the numbers in Rajya Sabha, Hariprasad said and criticised the Prime Minister for avoiding chitfund and other scams in Odisha during his speech at Bargarh.

Criticising the Prime Minister for not announcing any special package for Odisha, Hariprasad alleged the NDA government does not have any sympathy for farmers. The kissan rally at Bargarh was a political move by the BJP and had nothing to do with the welfare of the farmers, he said.

Meanwhile, after a series of incidents reflecting intra-party bickering, senior Congress leaders resolved to strengthen the party at the coordination committee meeting presided over by OPCC presient Prasad Harichandan.

The meeting, among other things, laid emphasis on strengthening the party organisation, prepare a blueprint for the ensuing panchayat polls and finalise strategy to counter the BJD and BJP. It was decided that the coordination committee meeting would be convened at regular intervals.

Former Rajya Sabha member Ram Chandra Khuntia said the party has decided to prepare a strategy to counter the BJD and BJP who are shedding crocodile tears for the farmers of the state.
