PM's Bargarh Visit Raises Hopes of Farmers

BARGARH :The BJP workers have given Bargarh a saffron hue ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the town on Sunday. Bargarh is dotted with BJP flags and party workers have arrived in hordes to ensure everything is in place for the Prime Minister’s ‘Kisan Sammelan’.

Apparently, the National BJP general secretary Arun Singh had earlier this week pointed out that the 35-acre land, where the public meeting will be held, would fall short in accommodating the mammoth gathering that the party workers are expecting. To lure people, the party has also made arrangements for free distribution of food at the three entry points to Bargarh.

Political observers said Modi’s visit to Bargarh is crucial as the Prime Minister would attempt to woo the farmers, who have traditionally been anti-Congress voters. They said the BJP seems to have come up with ‘Mission Western Odisha’ agenda and has rightly chose Bargarh for the meeting as it has a sizeable population from neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, Modi’s visit has raised expectations of Western Odisha farmers, who are hopeful of the Prime Minister announcing development projects for them.
