BHUBANESWAR: The State unit of Samajwadi Party (SP) has requested Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to ask the BJD MPs to raise the demand for inclusion of the Odisha OBC Reservation of Vacancies Act, 2008 in the ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, president of the State unit of SP Rabi Behera has requested him to take up the issue in the BJD parliamentary party meeting on Sunday ahead of Parliament session which begins on February 23. Behera said as the State Government is going to fill up 66,000 vacancies in different categories soon, 27 per cent reservation for OBCs should be ensured. OBC youths will get employment in 17,820 posts if 27 per cent reservation in jobs is ensured for them, he said.
