Legal Awareness Camp

District Legal Service Authority organised a legal awareness camp in Bamuniput school under Balia Panchayat here on Sunday. Addressing the camp, District and Sessions Judge of Jeypore Rabi Narayan Mishra urged the people to take legal help for resolving litigations.

Two Elderly Die in Accidents

Two elderly persons died in separate accidents in Salepur on Sunday. In one incident, Guna Sahu (60) of Tarat area under Tangi police limits died when a vehicle hit him on NH-16 at Nirgudi. He was crossing the road when the accident took place. In another mishap, 70-year-old Dibakar Sahu was run over by a truck at Gunupur village in Mulabasanta gram panchayat under Mahanga police limits. Sahu was standing in front of his house when the truck ran over him, killing him on the spot. The truck was seized, but the driver managed to flee, police said.

Raja Kin Unhappy with Probe

Even as television actress Jessy is hopeful of getting bail from the District and Sessions Court on Tuesday, family members of TV serial actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja expressed displeasure over police investigation. Raja’s mother Bishnupriya Ray, who was here to receive the materials seized by the police, blamed the investigating agency for going soft on the accused. “Police have not yet recorded the statements of witnesses under Section 164 of CrPc in the court,” she told mediapersons. Soro IIC Parshuram Sahoo, however, rubbished the allegation.

Mysore Destination for Whale Carcasses

The carcasses of three whales that washed ashore on Odisha beaches in the last one month will find a new destination. The officials of Natural History Museum of Mysore have expressed interest to preserve the skeletons.   Scientist-in-charge of Natural History Museum in Bhubaneswar, Gaurav, said the scientist-in-charge of Natural History Museum of Mysore, Dr GN Indresh, has offered help to preserve the skeletons of the three whales in their museum which washed ashore in Kendrapara, Ganjam and Puri districts.
