U N Behera new OERC chairman

Behera, an IAS officer of 1983 batch, will succeed former IAS officer S P Nanda who retires on October 7.

BHUBANESWAR: Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Upendra Nath Behera has been appointed as the new chairman of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC). Behera, an IAS officer of 1983 batch, will succeed former IAS officer S P Nanda who retires on October 7.

Behera was selected from among 42 applicants by a three-member selection committee comprising a judge of the Odisha High Court, Chief Secretary, Odisha and a member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). The committee has also selected Air Vice Marshal S K Parhi as member of OERC. The post has been lying vacant since August 1, 2016.

Though the appointments of Behera and Parhi have been approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today, a formal notification is likely to made by the Energy department on Friday.
