ATHAGARH:Gopal Sahoo of Bali village under Athagarh block was trampled to death by a tusker on Thursday night. Following the incident, villagers staged road blockade on NH-55 for about four hours by holding the body. Athagarh DFO Arun Kumar Swain reached the spot and assured the agitators of providing job to Sahoo’s son besides compensation. He handed over D15,000 to the bereaved family for cremation. An ex gratia of Dthree lakh would be released soon, Arun said.
