Two tourists from Nepal found dead in Puri

PURI: Two women tourists from Nepal were found dead in a tourist bus at Malatipatpur bus stand in the district on Tuesday. They reportedly died of diarrhoea.

The deceased have been identified as Koili Pasi (85) of Ramapurva village and Cura Murao (85) of Kateya village, in Nepal’s Banke district. The two were part of 63-member tourist group that had left Nepal on September 18 on a pilgrimage.

After visiting several places in north and north-eastern states, the bus, with the tourists, left Kolkata on Monday evening and reached here the next morning.

According to their tour operator, the two women were suffering from diarrhoea during their stay in West Bengal. “They were provided treatment at a private hospital in Kolkata before leaving for Puri. Their condition was stable. But, co-passengers found them dead in the bus,” he said.

Meanwhile, on being informed, police sent the bodies for postmortem and initiated a probe into the matter. Seven other tourists, who are sick, have been admitted in the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here.
