BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division on Wednesday raided the premises of an assistant executive engineer of Roads and Bridges Division over allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to his legal sources of income.

During the raids, the sleuths unearthed assets worth Rs 1.42 crore owned by the engineer, Ramakanta Mishra, and his family members.

Raids were conducted on two triple-storey buildings at Pandav Nagar in the Capital and Debottar Colony in Nayagarh, a rented house, an automobile showroom and a gas agency in Nayagarh and a commercial kiosk at Unit I Market here. The cost of six plots at Nayagarh and the Capital City has been estimated at `25.86 lakh, sources said.

Mishra joined Government service as a junior engineer in 1981 and was promoted to the rank of assistant executive engineer recently. The Vigilance have registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is on.
