Non-bailable warrants against 2 Government officers in Cuttack: State Administrative Tribunal

Despite, the tribunal’s order to the Secretary and Director of personal appearances, the officials did not depose before it.

BHUBANESWAR: State Administrative Tribunal (SAT), Cuttack on Wednesday issued non-bailable warrants against Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School and Mass Education Department and Director of Elementary Education for not complying with its order of regularising the jobs of two primary school teachers.

The matter dates back to 1996, when the State Government had issued a notification saying the teachers who had completed four years of service should be regularized. Subsequently, more than 23, 000 primary school teachers were regularised but 25 teachers from Bhadrak district were left out. The teachers had then approached the SAT in Bhubaneswar but did not get any relief.

Out of the 25 teachers, Basant Mahalik and Sridhar Das, then approached the SAT bench in Cuttack.

Despite, the tribunal’s order to the Secretary and Director of personal appearances, the officials did not depose before it. The tribunal then issued bailable warrants against the two officials and asked the Commissionerate Police to execute the process.

“But, since the police did not execute the warrants, the tribunal on Wednesday issued non-bailable warrants against the officials,” lawyer of the two teachers, Saroj Swain, said.
