BHUBANESWAR: Around 67 projects will be inaugurated in the city as part of Local Self Government Day celebrations by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
In the run-up to the Local Self Government Day on August 31, several parks, toilets, community centres, gymnasiums, renovated ponds, vending zones and day-care centres for senior citizens will be dedicated to public from August 29 onwards. The BMC will also install sanitary napkins vending machines at 10 public toilets and at a toilet in a private hostel in Mancheswar.
“A sanitary napkin vending machine along with an incinerator will be installed at 11 toilets in the city before August 26. An amount of `66,405 will be spent on this for each toilet,” BMC officials said. The civic body has tied-up with a private organisation to install the machines in public toilets.
