2 more dengue patients admitted to MKCG

BERHAMPUR: A day after a woman died of dengue in the MKCG MCH, two more affected patients were admitted to the Special Ward in the medical on Saturday. With this, the total number of dengue affected patients in Ganjam district has gone up to 29 this year so far. Despite the State Government’s claim of taking measures to tackle the crisis, dengue continues to spread its tentacles creating panic among the people, particularly in Chikiti block of Ganjam district.

Ch Parvati (45) of Jhatipadar village in Chikiti block was admitted to a private hospital here last week. After she was detected with dengue symptoms, she was shifted to MKCG Medical four days ago and was undergoing treatment for dengue fever. However, she succumbed to the disease on Friday. Initially, Health officials denied that the woman died due to dengue. Later, in the evening, after going through the MKCG records, the department confirmed that she was suffering from dengue.

Apparently, the two new patients who were admitted to the medical are also from Jhatipadar. Sources said five persons suffering from high fever and symptoms of dengue in Jhatipadar village are being treated in their homes. According to official records, 10 dengue positive patients were admitted to MKCH MCH in July and the number is 19 this month. Eighteen of the affected persons have been discharged after treatment. Sources said a majority of them contracted the disease while working in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Surat.District Malaria Officer Uma Shankar Mishra said all possible measures are being taken to check the disease.
