BHUBANESWAR: A day after Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation imposed fee for holding public rallies and taking out processions on Capital roads, the Commissionerate Police on Thursday introduced indemnity or surety bond.
In its order the CP stated that those holding public meetings, rallies, processions and protests in the Twin City will have to sign an indemnity bond or a surety bond which states that they will have to bear the losses in case of any damage to public or private property during the events.
Commissionerate Police’s orders on use of loud speakers, fireworks, conduct of behaviour during processions and assemblies and licence for registered music parties along with sound limits for marriage processions are already in force.
The announcement comes after a conference of all the DGPs and IGPs of the country was held at Hyderabad in 2016 where it was decided to introduce indemnity bonds for such protests and events.
Those holding public meetings, rallies, processions and protests will have to obtain licence from CP by paying `100 and another `200 towards use of loudspeakers.
The DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have been directed to ensure that the order is implemented in full spirit.
The bon will be executed in a non-judicial stamp paper of `100 and the expenses will be undertaken by the organisers of such events. The order will come into force from January 1, a police officer said.
