Cong MLA stopped by Secretariat guards, fumes

Congress MLA from Kotpad, Chandrasekhar Majhi was embroiled in a controversy over an argument with security personnel at Secretariat while he was exiting the premises on a two-wheeler.

BHUBANESWAR: Congress MLA from Kotpad, Chandrasekhar Majhi was embroiled in a controversy over an argument with security personnel at Secretariat while he was exiting the premises on a two-wheeler. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Majhi was leaving the Secretariat through Gate No 1 on a scooter.

As movement of two-wheelers is prohibited through Gate No 1, security personnel deployed at the exit point of the Secretariat intercepted the legislator's vehicle and directed him to take an  alternative route. The forces’ action angered Majhi, who revealed his identity and had an altercation with the security guards.

“How would a newly elected MLA, who does not own a four-wheeler commute to and from the Secretariat. If there is a provision of not allowing two-wheelers through Gate No 1, at least the MLAs should be exempted from the restriction,” Majhi told mediapersons present at the spot.

Majhi added that he felt insulted after being intercepted by the guards, but denied to have misbehaved them. Majhi was allowed to leave the premises after security personnel received an instruction from a senior police officer, said sources
