BHUBANESWAR: The leopard, which was trapped by Khariar Forest Division staff on Saturday, was shifted to be sheltered in Nandankanan Zoological Park near here on Sunday.
The wild animal was under a state of stress and had suffered injuries in its nasal passages. The zoo officials said the overall health condition of the carnivore was normal.
The leopard, about six to seven years of age, had apparently killed a four-year-old boy in Haldi village in Nuapada block in May.
Scared by the presence of villagers after it was trapped, the leopard is in a state of agitation as it was transported by road.
Upon its arrival here, it was found snarling at the zoo staff. The large cat will be kept in the isolation ward and remain under observation at least for a week.
