Indecent comments on Facebook lands Odisha officer’s son behind bars

The son of a senior bureaucrat of Odisha was arrested by Chhattisgarh police for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile of a girl and uploading obscene comments and morphed images.

RAIPUR: The son of a senior bureaucrat of Odisha was arrested by Chhattisgarh police for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile of a girl and uploading obscene comments and morphed images. He was brought to Raipur on transit remand on Friday.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Raipur, Vijay Agrawal said Khuswant Naik, son of Meghanad Naik, Additional Secretary (Home) of Odisha was arrested under the Information Technology Act after a Raipur girl lodged a police complaint about a fake Facebook profile created in her name and objectionable contents were posted therein.

According to the police, Khuswant, an engineering student, created the fake account of the girl who had befriended him on Facebook some months back.The girl was shocked when her friends inquired about the new profile with indecent content. She was ignorant about who forged the account and lodged a police complaint.

Raipur police took assistance of the cyber crime cell and traced the IP address from which the fake profile was created.Later, Raipur police arrested Khuswant and produced in a court in Bhubaneswar to get the transit remand. He was arrested under Section 67 of the IT Act (posting obscene material in electronic form), the police said.
