Eight Ayush doctors held for ransacking National Health Mission office

BHUBANESWAR: Commissionerate Police arrested eight Ayush doctors for vandalising National Health Mission (NHM) office at Nayapalli here on Thursday.The doctors are Rabi Narayan Padhi (42) of Berhampur, Chandrasekhar Mishra (44) of Ganjam district, Cheeranjivi Supkar (43) of Sambalpur district, Tapan Kumar Das (39) of Pipili, Bijay Ketan Sahoo (43) of Bargarh district, Himanshu Shekahar Pradhan (35) of Deogarh district, Prashant Kumar Panda (43) of Bargarh district and Manoranjan Pradhan (40) of Deogarh district.

The city cops had also detained more that 40 doctors in the morning for protesting violently in front of the NHM office here, however, they were later let-off. Over 500 Ayush doctors have been protesting since Monday in front of NHM office demanding regularisation of jobs and monthly salary as per the Central pay scale.

According to city police, the protesting doctors had detained Additional Mission Director in his office till late night on September 18. The protestors vandalised the NHM office on Thursday and prevented the officials from performing their duties."A case has been registered under separate sections," Nayapalli police said.
