BALANGIR: Villagers under Dudkasira, Chatria Pali and Chareimara of Balangir block handed over a petition to the Collector demanding closure of a country made liquor unit operating in the locality.
The petition, which was signed by more than 50 villagers, stated that the liquor unit at Dudkasira is barely 100 metres from Government primary school. The presence of the liquor unit has led to a sharp increase in violence in the area, a villager alleged.

Earlier, some women of Muribahal block had apprised the district administration about the ordeal they were facing because of the illicit  liquor trade in the area and had issued an ultimatum to boycott the upcoming rural election if no action is taken.
