PARADIP: Paradip Police have started a drive to create awareness among people on  helping accident victims. Apparently, many commuters are hesitant to take the victims to hospital fearing police case. Last year, 111 persons in Jagatsinghpur died in accidents on Cuttack- Paradip state highway and  NH passing through Cuttack-Machgaon. The local police are highlighting the fact that anyone taking accident victims to hospital will be rewarded with `2,000 and a letter of appreciation.

Also, they would not be harassed by police in any manner. As a part of the awareness campaign, hoardings and posters are being put up at several locations, urging people to help those injured in road accidents. SP JN Pankaj said billboards will be put up at six places including Kandarpur, Jaipur Chowk of Cuttack-Paradip state highway, Jagatsinghpur town and other important places. “We want to assure people that they will not be put into trouble in any manner if they help accident victims. Instead, they would be rewarded by our department,” he said. ENS
