BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar private bus owners’ association on Friday threatened to disrupt services after drivers of six buses were accosted and threatened by locals of Badapokharia area in Khurda district on Berhampur-Bhubaneswar route.

The incident occurred on Friday morning when the buses of a particular company were halted by locals who alleged that a passenger was looted in one of these vehicles on Thursday. The bus driver left the spot before a search could be conducted by the police, the locals of Badapokharia alleged.

Two buses of the company and four other private buses were stopped over this incident at Badapokharia for more than half an hour causing inconvenience to passengers.

Khurda SP Manoranjan Mohanty was informed about the matter over phone by the bus owners, who have demanded action against the miscreants. Sources said no official complaint has been registered yet and bus services are running smoothly.

After Thursday’s incident, the bus driver proceeded towards the Capital and parked the vehicle at Tamando police station.

‘’There were instances of bus drivers being heckled on trivial matters at Badapokharia, so the driver took a wise decision to leave the spot,’’ manager of the transport company said.
