Odisha H&UD Secretary move to check jaundice

Mathivathanan visited the worst hit areas of Ward no 8, 9 and 10 and inspected the water supply system, damaged pipelines and sanitisation works undertaken by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).

CUTTACK: Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department G Mathivathanan on Monday visited jaundice affected areas in the Millennium City and conducted a review meeting to take stock of the situation.

Mathivathanan visited the worst hit areas of Ward no 8, 9 and 10 and inspected the water supply system, damaged pipelines and sanitisation works undertaken by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).   

Later, Mathivathanan conducted a review meeting on jaundice situation in the city with Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra, CMC Commissioner Gyana Das, officials of PHEO, JICA and Health Department. He stressed on forming additional squads for realignment of damaged pipelines.

Mathivathanan directed PHEO officials for replacement of all pipelines passing through drains besides those which are more than 25 years old.

He also directed officials to conduct checks, detect illegal connections and file FIR against persons who damage pipelines to avail unauthorised water supply.
