SDA market complex to come up at Burla soon

The Sambalpur Development Authority will develop a three-storey market complex at Kirwa in Burla area of the city. Work on the project will commence shortly.

SAMBALPUR:The Sambalpur Development Authority (SDA) will develop a three-storey market complex at Kirwa in Burla area of the city. Work on the project will commence shortly.

Informing this, SDA Chairman Bijay Mohanty said tender process for construction of the market complex has already been completed and work order handed over to the selected construction firm.
The SDA will provide fund for the project which will be constructed at an estimated cost of `12 crore, he said and added that built up area of the market complex will be 18,400 sq ft and it will accommodate 87 shops.

The proposed market complex will help SDA generate additional income.Apart from revenue generation, it will also provide an opportunity to people interested to start business, Mohanty said.
The SDA owns market complexes at several strategic locations in the city and these are permanent source of income for the development authority.

Currently, the SDA has market complexes near Modern Bus Terminus at Ainthapali, Dr Jhasketan Sahu Swimming Pool at Mudipada and SRIT Colony besides shops in front of Gangadhar Meher University and Fatak area of the city. The development authority earns about `50 lakh per annum from the complexes. The proposed complex at Kirwa will be the first market building of the SDA in Burla area of the city.

Apart from the project at Kirwa, the SDA is also planning to develop an integrated market complex over a land measuring 1.14 acres after demolishing the existing one near the swimming pool at Mudipada.
Mohanty said a committee has been formed to prepare a report on the proposed integrated market complex. The SDA will initiate process to develop the complex after receiving report from the panel, he added.
